LONG-TERM PROTECTION AGAINST RUST AND CORROSION
ZINC-RICH SPRAYS
70-45 Zinc-Spray 70-43 Zinc-Sheen (Spray)
- Simple in
application
Shake can well before and during use, and finger pressure is all that
is needed to produce a continuous protective spray.
Dependent on the reference it will give 90 or 93% zinc in the dry film. The zinc purity is
99%.
Observe instructions on the product label. Do not purge the
valve when finished! Metaflux zinc-rich sprays are equipped with a self-cleaning valve!
The mixing of the zinc-rich sprays' content is the key to an even, good film quality:
shake the can well before and during application, i. e. shake thoroughly until the
mix-balls in the can can be heard and then keep on shaking for another 30 seconds. Spray
up to 10 seconds crosswise, then again shake can shortly but briskly, spray another 10
seconds crosswise etc. Also important are a clean work-surface (see below),
temperature (ideally, can and work-piece both at ambient temperature),
humidity, etc.
- Reliable in action
Metaflux zinc-rich sprays provide the proven reliability of
zinc-based surface protection.
Adhesion and resulting resistance of metal spray coatings to mechanical stress is
better if applied to a rough surface than if applied to a highly polished smooth surface.
A short spraying produces an approx. 30 µm thick protective coating.

- Handling
Drying time* of Metaflux 70-45
zinc-rich film sprayed at room temperature by a professional user: dust-dry within 5 to 7
min and fast to handling within 8 to 11 min.
Drying time* of Metaflux 70-43 zinc-rich film sprayed at room temperature by a
professional user: dust-dry within 8 min and fast to handling within 20 to 25 min.
(*Drying time depends on various factors such as film thickness, temperature of ambient
and substrate media, humidity etc.)
- Where to
use/Pretreatment
Zinc-rich sprays are mainly used
for spot application on a galvanized work-piece either passively
(transport) or actively damaged (sandblasted, cut, welded, drilled, filed).
Blank parts need no pretreatment. Burnmarks should be wire brushed before
coating with zinc-rich sprays. The work-piece soiled by fat, grease, oil,
silicone, etc. must be cleaned with a suitable cleaner, e. g. Metaflux 70-15 Rapid Cleaner
(Spray), which leaves no residues.
Refer to Metaflux 70-40 Zinc-Paste for the
coating of larger areas. Bigger metal parts can be cleaned with Metaflux Special Cleaners:
e. g. use 75-24/-25 Universal Cleaner or the similar 75-32 Universal Cleaner Special which
can be heated up to 70 °C (cleaning bath). Metal parts to be coated are to be flushed in
a (hot) pure water bath to get an absolutely clean surface. Thus, drying time becomes
acceptable (although it still takes longer than with organic solvent-cleansers), it is
safer healthwise and the impact on the environment can be reduced to a great extent. When
dry, zinc-rich coatings can be applied.
- No repair or
assembly shop should be without it for rust protection and priming
For touching up damaged zinc
coatings and as conductive interlining for spot welding for all vehicle bodywork. For
recoating over drilling marks and weld lines. As a primer for constructions exposed to
water and weather, for poles, masts, pipelines, sewage plants, sheds, heating system
construction, railings, port installations, ship superstructures, to mention just a few.
